12th Annual Event DATE SET! – Saturday, April 27, 2019.
The 12th annual Step Sisters’ Ribbon Run/Walk on Saturday, April 27, 2019 will bring together runners and walkers from all corners of Northern Virginia and beyond, united in an effort to support the Step Sisters’ mission to improve the quality of life for those impacted by breast cancer by funding needed support services in Northern Virginia.
Our 5k course will minimizes roads and winds through the scenic pathways of Brambleton. Click on the Race Routes tab above to see our USATF certified 5k course.
We will have registration available at Packet Pick-Up and on race day:
Kids’ Fun Run*: $20
Virtual Race*: $25
* Breakfast is NOT included with in-person registration

- April 27 – 6:45AM until 15 minutes before race start.

This community event attracts runners and walkers of all age groups, including young families with children participating in the “Kids’ Fun Run.’’ The event benefits The Step Sisters and their mission.

Make it more fun! Form a team to represent a family, company or a group of friends and compete against other teams. The team name will then appear on the drop-down menu for others to select during the registration process. Your team is also welcome and encouraged to fundraise for the Step Sisters organization as you prepare for the event.
Plenty of Parking is available in the parking garages at Brambleton Town Center, located off of North Star Blvd. Please follow the directional Event Parking signs.
Kids Fun Run!
Kids, get signed up for the Kids’ Fun Run and Enjoy the total race experience with your own event on a course of approximately a half mile distance! All registered participants will receive a cotton race t-shirt, and breakfast. Additionally, participants will receive a finishers’ keepsake!
The Ribbon Run will include Sharon’s Showcase, an expo designed to connect the breast cancer community and educate attendees on the resources in our area. This expo is in memory of our Step Sister, Sharon Iglesias, who bravely faced this disease three times before losing her battle. You will have an opportunity to make an additional donation during registration so that area breast cancer non-profits can participate in Sharon’s Showcase at no cost.
Packet Pick Up
(t-shirt and bib):
Packet Pick up & registration will be available on Friday, April 26 from 10 AM – 6 PM, Brambleton Welcome Center – 42395 Ryan Road, Suite 100
Packet Pick-Up will also be available bright and early on race day, 6:40 AM-7:45AM in the same location.
* We highly recommend picking up your packet on Friday…We are anticipating nearly 2,000 participants! Feel free to arrange for your friends or family to pick up your packet. Be sure to communicate with each other so no one makes an unnecessary trip.
Awards will be presented to the overall male and female in the following age groups:
5k: (youth groups top three) 6 and under, 7- 8, 9 – 10, 11 – 12, 13 – 14, 15 – 16, 17-18, (adult groups, top two) 19 – 29, 30 – 39, 40 – 49, 50 – 59, 60 – 69, and 70+
All registrants and volunteers signed up by Mar. 18 will receive a technical t-shirt to model during the race or wear as bragging rights post race! Have too many shirts? Choose to opt out and save or donate a couple bucks. NOTE: Race shirts are guaranteed to all participants registered by March 18. Shirts may be available on first-come-basis for registrants after this date, however shirts are NOT guaranteed. (no refunds will be issued if shirts are not available for runners registering after Mar. 18)

6:40 a.m. – Race Day Registration/Packet Pick-Up Opens
6:45 a.m. – Sharon’s Showcase opens
7:30 a.m.– Warm-Up
7:40 a.m.– National Anthem
8:00 a.m. – 5k Start
8:20 a.m.– Grab-n-Go Breakfast opens (ticket required)
8:45 a.m. – Kids’ Fun Run Warm-Up
9:00 a.m. – Kids’ Fun Run Start
9:15 a.m. – Awards Program & Raffle Drawings
Races will start in Brambleton Town Center under the balloon arch. 5k Walkers and those with strollers are asked to line up behind the pack at the designated walk signage. Pace signage will be displayed to assist runners in line up accordingly. Kids Fun Run will start at 9:00 AM at the start line under the balloon arch.

Post Race Activities:
Post Race Grab-n-Go Breakfast! – Blue Ridge Grill will be serving up egg, cheese & potato burritos, fruit, and chocolate milk! Coffee and donuts will be available in our Showcase area thanks to Park Valley Church. If you opted IN for breakfast, your breakfast ticket will be attached to your bib and you can exchange it for your Grab-n-Go breakfast after you complete your race. Opted OUT of breakfast? Sorry, Grab-n-Go breakfast tickets are not available on Race Day.
Awards Program: 9:15 or immediately following the Kids’ Fun Run
Kids’ Fun Run $10: Space is still available for the Kids Fun Run, scheduled to start at 9:00 am.This 1/2 mile distance is recommended for kids 12 and under. The first 150 registered kids get a t-shirt, finishers’ medal and breakfast! Register online at www.BrambletonRibbonRun.com.

Please be sure to stop by the “solutions” table at Packet Pick Up on Friday, April 21st and make any needed changes. Please keep in mind, should you NOT inform race officials of changes, your timing results will not be available for review on race day, and you run the risk of your results being inaccurate.
